Huda Shaarawi -- Egyptian feminist, Muslim, and author -- lived to tell the story of her people's struggle and triumph after leading the first women's march during the Egyptian Revolution of 1919, a revolution against British rule which ultimately took the lives of most of her male relatives and enabled Huda to fight openly for women's rights. She wrote an autobiography, called Harem Years: Memoirs of an Egyptian Feminist 1879-1924, which detailed the struggles of the Egyptian women's movement and the revolution for autonomy.
